The exhibition that formed part of the acts parallel to the scientific seminars organised by the University, Council and Bishopric of Lleida in 2000, containing four different areas. The first concerned the iconography of pilgrims and pilgrim saints, distinguishing between pilgrims per se, i.e. those who went to Santiago de Compostella, the “romers” or pilgrims who went to Rome and the “palmers” who went on their pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The second area introduced visitors to the different routes that went to make up the Catalan itineraries in the west that joined up with the French route. The third emphasised the importance of the city of Lleida as a strategic location at the crossroads of these Catalan western routes and, finally, the exhibition's discourse ended with an explanation of the paintings from the Pia Almoina, the place where the poor, sick and pilgrims were given nourishment.
