dones_madones.gif This exhibition showed different representations of medieval and modern women and was arranged into five different areas: The first, "Woman, religion and power", emphasised the role and importance of those noble women who, not being exchanged in a profitable marriage, found an alternative life in nunneries. The second, "Nobleness and holiness", covered those representations of female saints who represented the medieval and modern idea of virtue and perfection. The third area, "Religious women and founders", was dedicated to Clara d'Assís and Teresa de Jesús, examples of women from medieval and modern times, respectively. The fourth area, "Sin and women, Women Saints and Women Sinners", showed examples of female sinners, from the first woman and first female sinner, Eve, to the repentant sinner, Mary Magdalene. Finally, the last area, "Saint Mary Madonna", presented examples of the figure of Mary, the mother of God, the example of antonomastic virtue.
