Schools at the Museum

Education is one of the fundamental pillars supporting the Museu de Lleida: Diocesà i Comarcal. It is not seen as a complementary activity and the Museum therefore has various tools for this educational function to be carried out. The Museum of Lleida offers this area of its virtual museum to all educational centres interested in sharing educational activities that have arisen from the experience of visiting the exhibitions promoted at the Museum.

The Museum's aim is to become an area for the circulation and exchange of educational experiences, which we hope will help to create positive synergies between educational centres and our institution. This window open to the Internet means that works that stand out due to their value and originality are shared not only by the educational community but also by those professionals interested in promoting education in museums.

The experience of the laid table

The exhibition "A Laid Table. The poor, sick and pilgrims in medieval Lleida" was programmed by the Museum of Lleida in order to commemorate the 800 th anniversary of the setting of the first stone of the "Seu Vella" or old cathedral. This display was designed following the parameters of new educational museography and was enthusiastically received by schools in the Lleida area. Below are the various activities carried out for schools visiting the exhibition.

Synopsis: The activity consisted of painting the silhouette of one of the people represented in the Pia Almoina painting, following one of the techniques employed in the middle ages by the artists of the time: gouache. The pupils made the paints themselves with natural pigments, spices, plant leaves and egg, mixed with water. In this way the children relived the work carried out by painters years ago, who made their own colours and instruments for painting by hand.
