Exhibitions

Since it was opened in 1997, the Museum of Lleida has implemented a policy of temporary exhibitions to compensate the limitations in display terms of the room conditioned at the Romanesque church of Sant Martí, with the display entitled Prooemium . Apart from promoting a modern museum's various functions of conservation and dissemination, as well as the importance of the collections the museum holds, these exhibitions have served to publicise a significant number of the objects held in our stores awaiting the new museum premises.

Exhibitions of various formats have arisen from the work of the Museum of Lleida, adapted to the interests of their potential audiences, ranging from displays with a classic format such as S aint Michael Image and Legend, Christmas at the Diocesan Museum, the Image of Pilgrims in Lleida, Women and Madonnas and Skin of Stone, to those of a more informative nature such as Chess and the Knight and A Laid Table , including exhibitions aimed at promoting the work of our restoration workshop with Work restored at the Museum of Lleida.

The aim of our Museum has been to offer its collections to the rest of the Catalan region and that is why we have also programmed mobile exhibitions such as Chess and the Knight (Lleida, Àger, Balaguer, Barcelona and Castellar del Vallès), the display A look at the Museu de Lleida: Diocesà i Comarcal organised at the Mollerussa Fair and A Laid Table . In this way we hope to inform Lleida society and its counties about the existence of the Museum and its history, current status and future. These exhibitions have also served to get to know the interests of their visitors in order to improve future actions and adapt our dynamics to the society in which the Museum is set.
